Comments:
Kodak expect you to download a 24 MB package to enable you to use your
EasyShare CX6230 kamera (and probably others).
this of course isn't necessary!
to be honest - i've never tried the original driver package but
extracted the driver-only-part from the start - haven't ever installed
the EasyShare software. there maybe a "driver-only" option in the
shipped software. i don't know.
if you only want to gain access to the pictures on your camera and don't
want to use the other features of the Kodak software, you can use this
driver and find your camara under "My Computer" after installation.
it's about 3 MB in size unpacked.
it's been tested on windows 2000 and with the EasyShare CX6230. it MIGHT
work with other Kodak cameras - just test whether your OS accepts the
driver.
as i said - it's been tested on windows 2000, however, XP and win98 drivers
are included as well.
if you plan to update your old driver you might run into this gotcha:
my OS claimed to have updated the driver - after the reboot the new
driver version could be found in the device manager - yet... the drivers
in %systemroot%\system32\drivers remained untouched.
to get around this, i've included a CMD file that can delete the DRIVER-RELATED
files from win XP and 2K (NOT 98).
i ask you to RATE the driver and to SHARE any experiences (good or bad)
so other people get to know how good/bad this stuff works!
peace! and
Best Bytes®,
Harry
